The RAM 1500 has always been a work-horse, and with its redesign, it offers more of a luxury ride. These trucks are some of our featured vehicles at M&L Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM, serving Lexington, Winston-Salem, and Greensboro. They have powerful engines, plenty of cargo room and high towing capacity, and a full suite of entertainment and safety features. While we have both models here at our lot, we’re proud to say that at the 2019 RAM 1500 has been named Motortrend’s Truck of the Year.
Exterior – 2019 RAM 1500 in Lexington
The 2018 RAM 1500 has a strong presence. With big, bold lines and rounded edges, it certainly strikes an aggressive pose. What the 2019 version has done is made things more angular, giving the full-size pick-up a more modern feel. When comparing the 2019 RAM 1500 vs 2019 RAM 1500 from the front, you’ll immediately notice several differences. The grille has been redesigned and has a continuous geometric pattern throughout it, with the exception of the bold RAM logo in the middle. At the top of the grille is a power bulge that matches the ridge on the hood. The LED headlights have also been tightened up; they take up less space but still have the same capabilities. Another feature is the front spoiler, which juts out from beneath the bumper to reduce drag. On the back end of the truck, the new Ram’s head logo is featured on the rear tailgate of the 2019 truck, and the rear bumper has a two-level design that can give people a better foothold when climbing into the bed. With the 2019 trims, there are 16 wheel designs to choose from, including wheels that measure an impressive 22 inches.
Interior – 2019 RAM 1500
Inside the cab of the RAM 1500, there’s a lot of room up front and in the back seat, and that spaciousness has been increased with the latest redesign. Also making things seem brighter and more airy is an available 10-square-foot dual-pane panoramic sunroof. Changes in the front of the cabin include an updated steering wheel with buttons that are better positioned and movable cup holders in the center console. Most drivers today have come to expect high-tech features on new vehicles, and they won’t be disappointed with the RAM 1500. In fact, the truck can come with a massive 12″ touchscreen, which is the largest in its class. The home screen can be customized and split so that two things can be viewed simultaneously.
The Navigation can steer you in the right direction, and SiriusXM with 360L can keep everyone entertained. Despite being rugged vehicles, these trucks are very quiet on the inside, and you can choose to upgrade your truck to have an interior active noise cancelation system. If sound quality is important to you, you can get a 2019 model with a 900-watt Harman Kardon Premium Audio System, which is available with Limited trims. The 2018 truck can come with an 8.4″ touchscreen that’s still quite impressive in size. With the Uconnect system, smartphones can be wirelessly integrated, drivers can control various settings, and weather and traffic information can be accessed.
Mechanical – RAM 1500 specs in Lexington
These RAM trucks can come with either a 3.6L V6 or a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 now comes with eTorque, making it a little bit more efficient than its predecessor. It still gets 305 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, but it gets an estimated 20/25 mpg compared with the 17/25 mpg of the 2018. For the 5.7L HEMI, there’s an option to include the eTorque system. Without it, the V8 has 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, along with an estimated 15/22 mpg. With the eTorque system, the numbers are boosted up to 17/23 mpg. The 2019 and 2018 RAM 1500 both come with a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission that can improve performance and handling.
Safety – 2019 RAM 1500 dealer
What both model years share in common are numerous safety features. A full set of anti-lock brakes and air bags can make it safer to drive around town, and Electronic Stability Control can kick into work in case a driver loses traction. The latest version of the RAM 1500 brings with it advanced technology and sophisticated software to keep drivers in control. Features that the 2019 RAM could come with include Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist. If you want an all-around view of your truck and anything around it, you can opt to install a 360-degree Surround View Camera. When driving a large vehicle like the RAM 1500, this can come in handy when you’re backing up, making tight turns, unloading the bed, or hooking up a trailer.
