Why Buy the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica
Floated around intermittently for a couple of years, the Pacifica nameplate is now recognized as a luxury minivan-and a very good one. While the minivan is not often seen as among the most compelling of body styles, this one succeeds with rather attractive sheet metal. And that’s not to mention having an upscale interior and tons of features. For 2018-the vehicle’s second model year-there’s a new base trim with the L, which is topped by, in ascending order, the LX, Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and Limited.
Exterior – Reasons Why Buy the Pacifica
Standard exterior features on the Chrysler minivan include halogen headlights, power heated mirrors, and 17-inch steel wheels with covers. On the LX, 17-inch alloys replace the steel wheels. A power liftgate, fog lamps, and halogen quad headlights with automatic on/off ability appear if you get, at the very least, the Touring Plus. Exclusive to the Limited are auto-dimming ability on the driver’s side mirror, hands-free power-sliding doors and liftgate, LED taillights and fog lamps, high-intensity discharge headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and turn-signal indicators and power-folding ability on both side mirrors.

This 2018 Chrysler minivan has three rows of seats for accommodating up to eight people. Passenger volume is measured at 165 cubic feet, and standard cargo volume-which is calculated with all seats in place-is measured at 32.3 cubic feet. The second and third rows are part of a seating and storage system that is officially called Stow ‘n Go®. In this system, both rows can be folded flat under the floor so that there’s more luggage space. As a result, cargo volume can be expanded to a max of 140.5 cubic feet. Another feature of Stow ‘n Go® is the compartments underneath the second- and third-row seats, which act as extra storage when both seats are upright. Front seating is upgraded to an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar on the LX, and heating ability and leather upholstery are introduced on the Touring L.
Second-row heating ability, heating ability on the steering wheel, and a power 8-way front-passenger seat with lumbar adjustment are added on the Touring L Plus. Front-seat ventilation, driver-seat memory, and front-passenger seat power adjustment are exclusive to the Limited. Standard comfort and convenience features include cruise control, a 3.5-inch monochrome TFT display, Bluetooth® connectivity for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, Uconnect® infotainment integration with a 7-inch touchscreen display, a USB port and auxiliary audio jack for connecting mobile devices, remote keyless entry, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for smartphone-based control, and six-speaker audio. Added on the minivan, with the LX trim, is tri-zone automatic climate control with rear air conditioning.
On the Touring Plus, additional equipment includes a charging-only USB port, a garage-door opener, and a one-year complimentary SiriusXM® satellite radio subscription. The Touring L Plus introduces a host of features, which include remote start; HD Radio™; a 7-inch full-color digital display (which replaces the 3.5-inch TFT one); an 8.4-inch touchscreen navigation system; an auto-dimming rearview mirror; a second charging-only USB port (located in the third row); the Uconnect® Theater system, which includes a Blu-Ray/DVD player, seatback video screens, and wireless streaming ability; and a 13-speaker 506-watt Alpine® sound system. Unique to the Limited are features like a tri-pane panoramic sunroof and an integrated vacuum to help with cleaning the cabin (Stow ‘n Vac).
Mechanical / Powertrain – Request More Information
The minivan relies on the popular 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 for power. This machine, which delivers 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, is hitched to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain is a front-wheel-drive system. For curbing road turbulence, the minivan has an all-wheel independent suspension that consists of a MacPherson strut design on the front and a twist blade design with coil springs on the back. The suspension on the trims above the LX, though, is touring-tuned to provide a softer driving feel and heightened ability to absorb the road’s bumps, holes, cracks, and other imperfections. Electric power rack-and-pinion steering makes turning and twisting on the vehicle precise and accurate.
Safety – Why Buy with Safety Features
For cushioning and restraint when in a crash, the minivan provides dual front impact airbags, dual front knee airbags, dual front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and side-curtain airbags on all rows. Additional standard safety features include electronic stability control, hill start assist, a backup camera, daytime running lamps, and a theft-deterrent system. Added on the Touring L and up are blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a rear parking assist system, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, and a panic alarm to bolster the theft-deterrent system. On the Limited, the halogen bulbs that comprise the daytime running lights are replaced by LEDs for brighter and longer-lasting illumination.
