Why Buy 2018 Jeep Compass near Kernersville NC
Why Buy the 2018 Jeep Compass
Not even being the smallest Jeep vehicle available can dim the off-road capability of the Compass. And unlike most crossover vehicles, which are obsessed with striking a neat balance between being a four-door sedan and SUV, this entry has stayed true to its wilderness-conquering heritage throughout a decade (so far) of its existence. The 2017 model year marked the beginning of the nameplate’s second generation of production, so its 2018 version has no changes. Four trims are available; they are the Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk®, and Limited.
Exterior – Reasons Why Buy the Compass
As a result of the 2017 redesign, the SUV has a more sculpted look than the first-generation model. The halogen quad headlights on the SUV include daytime running lamps to make you more visible to pedestrians and other drivers. The Latitude and higher have headlights that can automatically turn on during low-visibility conditions, and fog and cornering lights are added to supply more penetrating and expansive illumination. The heated power-adjustable manual-folding side mirrors are upgraded with turn-signal indicators on the Trailhawk® and Limited. On top of the vehicle, Chrysler adds roof rails on the Latitude and higher for carrying oversized and unusually shaped luggage, and the Trailhawk® and Limited have a black roof for added aesthetics. The Sport has black 16-inch steel wheels, the Latitude rolls with 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, the Trailhawk® has 17-inch polished-black pocket aluminum ones, and 18-inch polished-black pocket aluminum wheels go on the Limited. As the designated off-road-optimized trim, the Trailhawk® has additions to further protect the body from damage. Such additions include skid plates that cover the transmission, front suspension, fuel tank, rear fascia, and transfer case.
Interior – 2018 Jeep Compass – Request information interior
esignated and marketed as a compact crossover SUV, this vehicle can seat up to five people and has 126.7 cubic feet of passenger volume. In terms of cabin finish, the Trailhawk® is unique in that it has red interior stitching accents. On the Limited—long designated as the top-of-the-line, luxury-optimized trim—there’s front-seat and steering-wheel heating capability, leather upholstery with perforated inserts, and a driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustability and 4-way power lumbar support. Standard comfort and convenience features include remote keyless entry, push-button engine start, an electronic vehicle information center, a 3.5-inch monochromatic driver information cluster display, media center electronics storage, Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, six-speaker audio, and a Uconnect® infotainment integration with a 5-inch touchscreen.
The Trailhawk® and Limited have additions and enhancements such as dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.4-inch touchscreen (instead of the 5-inch), a one-year trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for smartphone-based control, and a 7-inch color driver info cluster display (in place of the monochromatic 3.5-inch). Exclusive to the Limited are remote vehicle start and an auto-dimming rearview mirror for conquering headlight glare flashing behind you.
Mechanical / Powertrain – Request More Information
The SUV is powered by the 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder MultiAir® engine, which generates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. On the Sport and Latitude, the engine is hitched to a 6-speed manual transmission. On the Trailhawk® and Limited, the engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, which comes with a transaxle shifter to enable more control over gear shifting. In addition, the Trailhawk® and Limited engines are accompanied by start and stop technology, which eliminate engine idling by shutting it down when coming to a stop and turning it back on when the brake pedal is released, thus contributing to better fuel economy numbers. On the Sport, Latitude, and Limited, you can choose between a front-wheel drivetrain and a four-wheel-drive system. By contrast, the Trailhawk® has a standard four-wheel drivetrain, which includes a Selec-Terrain® system with five customizable settings (i.e., Auto, Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud, and Rock) to ensure that you can navigate any type of road or weather condition. For cushioning from road turbulence, the 2018 SUV has a MacPherson strut front suspension and a Chapman strut rear suspension. Notably, the suspension on the Trailhawk® is tuned to maximize off-road performance, and it is raised further from the ground to get it further away from potentially undercarriage-damaging objects.
Safety – Why Buy with Safety Features
For safety, the SUV has a rearview camera to ensure safety when moving in reverse, hill start assist for safe driving up a steep slope, all-speed traction control to keep the tires on the ground, electronic vehicle stability control with roll mitigation to ensure driving control at all times, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes for ultimate stopping ability, trailer sway damping for control over whatever you have attached the trailer hitch, and a nine-airbag system for restraint and cushioning during a crash. Security is provided by a theft-deterrent system that combines remote keyless entry and engine immobilization. The Trailhawk® is the only trim that has hill descent control for more convenient safe driving down a steep slope. The Limited has a panic alarm added to the theft-deterrent system.
