Are you in the market for a new SUV? There’s a good chance you are, considering more Americans are buying SUVs and trucks rather than smaller cars. In addition to offering greater power and height, SUVs tend to be roomier and safer. Not to mention, with an increasing number of SUVs hitting the market, there are more options available than ever before.

For the budget-conscious driver, the 2023 Dodge Hornet is an excellent choice, as it offers all the above, but at an extremely attractive price. Are you now curious about this state-of-the-art SUV? Read on to learn more about the 2023 Dodge Hornet.

The Price

Before we dive into this SUV’s specs, let’s discuss the price first. After all, cost should be the first thing you consider when buying a car. The 2023 Dodge Hornet will have an MSRP of just under $30,000. The exact price you’ll pay will depend on which dealership you go to, the trim you pick, and other extras you might add.

The Basics

The 2023 Dodge Hornet is considered a compact SUV, so it’s a great vehicle for those who admire SUVs but are apprehensive about operating a larger vehicle. It’ll be comparable to the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-30, Volkswagen Taos, and Kia Seltos, and will sit just below Dodge’s mid-sized Durango.

This is Dodge’s first compact SUV, and they’ve carefully crafted it to be a luxurious vehicle that’s sure to impress. It borrows its looks from the Tonale, down to the sheet metal look. Outside, it has integrated heat extractors, a mail-slot grille, and LED headlights. Also, this SUV will catch everyone’s eyes on the road with its illuminated Dodge logo in the back, Hornet badge, and the red signature taillight bar.

The Interior

Inside the 2023 Dodge Hornet, you’ll find center stack controls and display screens (12.3-inch customizable digital gauge cluster and 10.25-inch central touchscreen), which are conveniently tilted towards the driver. Sport mode is integrated into the flat-bottom steering wheel so you can activate it at will.

Enjoy the hours of entertainment displayed through the Stellantis Uconnect 5 system. The 2023 Dodge Hornet features wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. To personalize your vehicle, you may consider adding a Harman Kardon 14-speaker audio system and wireless phone charging station.

The driver and passengers will be treated to cloth and leatherette upholstery highlighting red accent stitching. However, you can choose to upgrade to leather or Alcantara seats.

The Trims

The 2023 Dodge Hornet keeps it short and simple for the Hornet’s trims: choose between the GT or the R/T. Both come standard with all-wheel drive, but the GT is an ordinary SUV while the R/T is a plug-in hybrid.

Along with the trims, there are two packages you can add: the Blacktop and the Track Pack. The Blacktop provides gloss-black exterior accents and 18-inch black alloy wheels, while the Track PAck gives you package-specific logos on your vehicle’s seats, 20-inch wheels, and red Brembo brake calipers.

GT Trim

The GT trim has matte-black lower cladding and 17-inch alloy wheels. If you opt for the GT Plus, then it comes standard with leather upholstery and an optional upgrade to red leather. The GT trim comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It’s capable of 268 HP and can go from zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds!

R/T Trim

The R/T trim is Dodge’s first plug-in hybrid, but don’t let that fool you. This trim is actually more powerful than the GT trim, so if you’re looking for some oomph on the road but want to also reduce your carbon footprint, then you can kill two birds with one stone with the R/T trim.

With this trim, you’ll find painted cladding, integrated dual exhaust ports, and 18-inch graphite gray alloy wheels. Like the GT Plus, the R/T Plus comes standard with leather upholstery and an optional upgrade to red leather. Here, you’ll get a 1.3L turbo four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor (located at the rear axle) and a six-speed automatic transmission. This makes the engine capable of 288 HP.

The PowerShot is what gives the R/T trim its edge. You can activate it by pulling the two paddle shifters, and this will give you an extra 25 HP. This enables you to go from 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds! This hybrid comes with a 12.0 kWh battery pack, which should give you a little over 30 miles per charge. This level two charger will take approximately two and a half hours to charge fully.

Safety Features

This new Dodge vehicle comes standard with a safety suite. This includes:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning
  • Pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Blindspot warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control

You can add a wide variety of additional safety features, such as traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, an advanced parking assist system, and a 360-degree camera system.
